Want to send a shock through your body and help a great cause? Well, I have just the event for you this Saturday, January 27th at Volunteer Landing. You can participate in the Annual Eskimo Escapades. What is that you ask? Well, I’m going to tell you! The Eskimo Escapades is a fundraising event for The Dream Connection, Patricia Neal, and Adventure Amputee Camp.
The Dream Connection helps children ages 3 to 18 years old with life threatening illnesses. They helps make these children’s dreams come true and yes, this organization is helping children here in East Tennessee.
Patricia Neal helps individuals who have disabilities to participate in real life experiences, and day to day activities. They educate and nurture to help these individuals meet their success goals.
Adventure Amputee Camp is a group that encourages children with amputation or limb difference to reach ALL there goals and explore as much as possible. They take the kids through camp activities, river rafting, water skiing and snow activities.
Do you want to help out and participate in these escapades? $40 dollars is all it will take for you to help, ski, tube, and wakeboard. Still need an added incentive? The money stays local! They also have a penguin plunge. You wear your swimsuit and jump in brrrrrr. It’s not just fun and games. It’s fun and games for a good cause! There will be food and Calhoun’s is right there. You can warm up and watch it all from the restaurant. The event is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday and I encourage you all to come out.
Side note: Below is a picture of one of my favorite board members, Joe Aylor. This event is one of his passions. He’s born and raised here in Knoxville and this year he’s worked hard to get the word out. So from your go to girl for Knoxville, GO TO THIS EVENT! And of course, think warm thoughts while you jump into that cold water!
