Burchett fundraising total 150% of nearest opponent’s tally
Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett today announced his campaign has raised $137,063 in the first federal reporting period. He outpaced his nearest opponents
fundraising efforts and raising 150 percent of the next-highest tally.
The second-place fundraiser was Jimmy Matlock, who raised just under $92,000, according to his Federal Election Commission financial disclosure. Matlock also made a personal loan to his campaign in the amount of $75,000.
Burchett, who is not independently wealthy, did not make a loan to his campaign. His wife, Kelly, gave $1000 to her husband’s campaign.
“I am honored that so many residents of the district have given to my campaign and it gives the campaign a real boost,” Burchett said. “To have donors from across the district and in varying amounts is outstanding and shows strong support from the second district from Campbell County to Blount County; from Loudon
County to Jefferson County and places in between.”
Mayor Burchett’s disclosure will be submitted to the FEC before the Oct. 15 deadline. Vito Sagliano and Brad Fullington are also running against Mayor Burchett.
