As most of you know, State Representative Roger Kane, is not seeking re-election. He’s instead running for Knox County Court Clerk. So who’s going to replace him?
Attorney Jesse Nelson is the first to hit the ground running for that seat. He’s having his campaign kickoff on October 5th at Calhoun’s at Pellissippi. House District 89 covers parts of Farragut, Karns, Hardin Valley, Norwood, and most of Northwest Knoxville.
People are already announcing their support of him. State Representative Jason Zachary posted on Facebook his support, “We are losing a great Representative in Roger Kane. Roger has been a close friend, mentor and leader in The House. Roger is retiring from the Legislature to run for Knox County Clerk. His leadership and wisdom will be an asset, countywide.
District 89 expects strong, conservative leadership in the person who follows Rep. Kane and that is why I’m supporting my friend Jesse Nelson to replace Roger as the next Representative of the 89th District. Jesse will represent Knox County well in Nashville and be a great asset within our community. If you are in District 89, please join us on October 5th for Jesse’s kickoff event.”
I spoke with Jesse Nelson about him running for state representative. He had this to say,
“I’m running to ensure Tennessee keeps moving forward based on core conservative principles. We’ve achieved a lot of great things while having republican majorities in the General Assembly, but new issues will continue to evolve. We MUST address the opioid epidemic, and quickly! We must be prepared to address healthcare because Congress is sure to continue its incompetence and gridlock. And, I’d like to see Tennessee be the leader in infrastructure innovation rather than take a “fix it when it’s beyond repair” approach.”
It’s always great when people under 40 run for office. Mark your calendars for October 5th to meet Jesse Nelson. The kickoff runs from 5:30-7:30.
