Perhaps I shouldn’t be let out of doors on rainy days. On one rainy Tuesday I found myself at a new restaurant called Moe’s Original Bar-B-Que on 4405 Kingston Pike, across from the Bearden Beer Market. It’s a great location for busy people to dart in and enjoy some truly wonderful barbecue. It’s family-friendly and a perfect place for a girls’/guys’ night out. The restaurant is decorated in early Knoxville, giving it a slightly retro look and feel.
For those of us who simply cannot live without our cell phones, the wooden tables all have charging stations. The menu features the expected pulled pork, as well as smoked turkey, smoked chicken, fried catfish and ribs. Best of all, there are platters that come with sides, which change daily. When I toddled into Moe’s the sides included jalapeno grits, skillet corn and green beans, all of which were delicious. The special change daily as well and the rib sandwich is one of the best I’ve ever had. Unfortunately, I did not order it and getting that second and third bite was a struggle.
For those who enjoy adult beverages, you’ll be satisfied. Moe’s is owned by Erica and Michael Harb, and it is easy to see they have put their hearts and souls into their restaurant. I would highly recommend it to you.
